Small Group Touring

See More of the World on a Small Group Tour

There is something special about sharing an extraordinary journey with a small group of like-minded travellers. Small group tours and luxury escorted tours combine the convenience and expertise of organised travel with smaller group sizes, carefully planned itineraries and experiences that can be difficult to arrange independently.

At Valhalla Travel, we work with some of the world's most respected touring companies, including Intrepid Travel, Abercrombie & Kent, APT, AAT Kings, Bench Africa and many more. Because we are not restricted to recommending one particular tour operator, our consultants can research and compare different itineraries to find the experience that best matches your interests, preferred travel style, budget and destination.

Group sizes vary considerably between operators and itineraries, but many premium small group tours operate with approximately 10–18 guests. Smaller numbers can provide a more personal touring experience, greater interaction with expert guides and access to places and experiences that would be impractical for a traditional large coach tour.

And the possibilities are remarkable.

Imagine heading into the Serengeti or Maasai Mara in search of the Big Five, exploring the extraordinary landscapes and wildlife of the Galápagos Islands, discovering ancient temples and local communities across Japan or Southeast Asia, or venturing into the pristine wilderness of Antarctica aboard a specialist expedition vessel.

Across Europe, small group touring can take you beyond the major cities into vineyards, historic villages and regional communities. In Africa, specialist safari operators combine exceptional wildlife viewing with beautiful lodges and expert local guides. Further afield, destinations such as South America, India, Sri Lanka, Australia and New Zealand offer everything from cultural journeys and walking adventures to food, wildlife and luxury touring experiences.

For travellers seeking something more refined, luxury small group tours can incorporate premium accommodation, fine dining, private sightseeing, exclusive access, seamless transfers and carefully curated experiences throughout the journey.

Your Valhalla Travel consultant can also take care of the journey before and after your tour. International flights, stopovers, additional accommodation, private transfers, rail journeys, cruises, travel insurance and independent extensions can all be incorporated to create one seamless holiday.

Whether you want adventure, culture, wildlife, history, food or simply the reassurance of travelling with an experienced guide, we can help you find the right tour rather than simply a tour.

Off the Well-beaten Path

Sometimes the greatest luxury is simply having someone else take care of the details. On a well-designed guided small group tour, accommodation, transport, sightseeing and many meals and activities are arranged in advance, while an experienced tour leader or local guide manages the journey on the ground. There is no need to work out tomorrow's train, find the next hotel or wonder whether you have booked the right excursion. With Valhalla Travel also arranging your flights, pre- and post-tour accommodation, transfers and other travel requirements, the entire holiday can come together seamlessly.

Stress-free Travel

Discover New Friendships

With fewer travellers, small group touring offers a more personal and relaxed way to explore. Rather than being one of dozens on a large coach, smaller groups can enjoy greater interaction with expert guides, easier access to attractions and more time to experience each destination. Group sizes vary between operators and itineraries, but many premium tours travel with approximately 10–18 guests. It can mean less time waiting for everyone else and more time actually enjoying your holiday.

Some of the best travel memories are the ones you share. Small group travel brings together people with a common curiosity about the world, creating natural opportunities for friendships to develop along the way. You might share your first sighting of a lion on safari, toast an incredible sunset, discover a tiny local restaurant together or simply swap stories over dinner. There is still plenty of opportunity for personal time, but when something extraordinary happens, there are new friends alongside you to enjoy it.

Smaller groups can go where larger touring groups simply cannot. Think family-run restaurants, boutique accommodation, local villages, wildlife lodges and experiences away from the major tourist trail. Whether you are heading deep into the African bush, exploring rural Japan, discovering hidden corners of Europe or travelling through remote South America, small group tours can provide a more authentic connection with the places and people you have travelled so far to experience.
